“Landscape approaches” seek to provide tools and concepts for allocating and managing land to achieve social, economic, and environmental objectives in areas where agriculture, livestock, mining, and other productive land uses compete with environmental and biodiversity goals.

Kopeh Dagh region in North Khorasan province was registered as the 13th biosphere reserve of Iran at the 30th session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Human and Peace Corps - UNESCO, which was held in Indonesia's Palembang in the South Sumatra Province.

Iran is to help Nigeria to implement a desertification control plan. Ahman Shehu Mahmud Usman, Permanent Secretary of Nigerian Minister of Environment, arrived at Isfahan province at the head of a high ranking delegation comprised of 13 federal and provincial managers in the field of environment and natural resources management to visit desertification control projects.

Khalil Aghaei, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO met with Daniel Gustafson, Deputy Director-General for programmes of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) at the FAO headquarters in Italy accompanied by Mohammad Hossein Emadi, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to FAO, and Kamran Poormoghaddam, chair of Forest, Rangeland and Watershed High Council.
